World We Imagine 3
Growing up in a household with someone who struggled with substance abuse, I wanted to become as educated as possible about addiction and how these problems begin in the first place. As I researched more about addiction, substance abuse has become an urgent and devastating issue for our youth. From 2016 to 2020, drug use has risen 61% among 8th graders. As of 2024, 1 in 10 young adults has an alcohol use disorder and 1 in 7 young adults has a substance use disorder. Here at LA Youth Recovery, we recognize that addiction is becoming a pressing issue amongst young people that requires an urgent solution and attention. Our mission at LA Youth Recovery is to support and empower young people who are fighting substance abuse and help them reclaim their lives.
Addiction doesn’t exist solely in isolation, it often coexists with underlying mental health issues, socioeconomic challenges, or trauma. LA Youth Recovery takes a holistic approach to recovery by addressing the root causes of addiction and providing broad-spectrum support services to help young people heal and thrive. Other than other youth support organizations, we integrate mental health services, family support, and community engagement within our programs. Mentorship programs and peer support groups can significantly increase the chances of recovery for those struggling with addiction. By encountering others who face similar challenges, we hope to provide those with safe spaces to share their experiences, struggles, and successes. As our youth transition into adulthood, they deserve long-term support that allows them to maintain their recovery and remain connected to our support services.
Beyond the treatment services that we offer, we aim to educate our youth about prevention. We want to raise awareness about the risks of substance abuse, while also empowering our youth to make informed decisions about their well-being and health. At LA Youth Recovery, we believe in the potential and resilience of our younger generations. By using empathy and compassion, we hope to create a supportive community for those in need. We encourage AMDP to invest in our company; with your support, we will be able to harness the necessary tools to empower our youth and their families to overcome these challenges and help rebuild their lives.
